FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: In need of Bakers, Photographers and other corporate Donations
September 24, 2009
Dolly’s florist is hosting a fundraiser for New Journeys Transitional Home, a non profit organization that provides a nurturing environment to promote independence and self-sufficiency along with other skills required to become a productive adult. This is for young women, ages 18 to 24 that are homeless or no longer in foster care.
“Dreams Can Come True” will be held at Dolly’s Florist, 14700 NW 7th Ave, Miami, Fl 33168, on November 7th, 2009. We will have Santa here for the kids, a hands on class where the children can design their very own tree ornament. We will also be holding an adult seminar on holiday decorating and a Silent Auction with many fabulous items, including an autographed Miami Heat basketball. The Heat dancers will perform and be available for autographs and photos. Burnie the Heat mascot will be mingling with the crowd, along with other Surprise guests.
Therefore we would appreciate your partnership and participation in helping us provide the opportunity for these young women to make a transition from homelessness onto a path of productivity and success. Your help and support can be provided by making a monetary contribution, a food donation or a gift for silent auction. We are also looking for any bakers or photographers that would like to donate their services and promote their business
Our advertising will consist of five to ten thousand postcards and email invitations and we will give recognition to anyone involved in making this event a success. New Journeys is a non-profit 501C3 organization and any donation you make to us is tax deductible.
If you are interested in taking part in this spectacular event please call Marylee or Kim at Dolly’s Florist. 305- 769-3843. We are expecting a great turn out!!
About New Journeys Transitional Home
As you may or may not know there is a gap in the system to assist children that age out of foster care. Our mission is to decrease the rate of homelessness for these young adults by providing an immediate, safe, affordable and nurturing housing environment that promotes independence and self-sufficiency. The majority of our residents have come to us due to our partnerships with the Community Partnership For the Homeless (The HAC), The Charlee Program, The Miami Rescue Mission and Switchboard of Miami.
New Journeys is a quaint home with warmly furnished double bedrooms, a common living area for leisure time and office space for workshops and computer use. We have been open and operating just a little over two years and we have already housed over thirty (30) young women. We are located at 3146 NW 45 Street, Miami, Fl 33142.
We are continuously making successful strides with our program as we have helped several of our residents move on to productive, independent lives. Recently one of our residents acquired her Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration while working full-time at The Doral and is currently on her way to a lifestyle of total independence.
Over the past two years we have been blessed with donations from the following entities: Jesus People Ministries $15,000,00 The Miami Heat $10,000.00 Commissioner Audrey Edmondson $10,000.00 Winn-Dixie $2,000.00 Walmart $2,000.00
We humbly ask for your help and support to continue with New Journey’s mission to address homelessness. Your support would certainly make a huge impact in the lives of these youths and allow us to continue to help build a better future for us all!
Sincerely,
Kim and Marylee
